Rajabazar Murder Case: Law Has Spoken — The State Will Not Negotiate with Murder, It Will Prosecute It
News By TIRTHANKAR MUKHERJEE

On 22 December 2025, Rajabazar witnessed a savage act of criminality. Mehboob Alam was stabbed to death in broad daylight — not merely murdered, but struck down in a manner that challenged public order, mocked civil society, and tested the authority of the State. The accused, Md. Muslim @ Muslim Ansari, chose violence over legality and believed he could outrun accountability. That presumption has now collapsed under the weight of the law.

The criminal act has been met not with hesitation, not with delay, but with decisive judicial resolve.

The investigation proceeded with legal precision.

The murder weapon has been recovered.

The getaway vehicle has been seized.

The absconding accused has been arrested beyond state borders through lawful interstate coordination — a testament to the fact that neither geography nor bravado can shield a criminal from the sovereignty of justice.

This arrest is not a symbolic act.

It is the formal reassertion of the Rule of Law.

The accused will now face the court.

Transit remand will be lawfully secured.

Judicial custody, prosecution, evidence, and trial will follow — because in a constitutional democracy, punishment is not emotion-driven; it is law-driven. And the law here is uncompromising.

This case establishes a stern doctrinal message:

• Murder is not a dispute — it is an offence against the State.

• Escape is not freedom — it is merely deferred accountability.

• Justice is not optional — it is inevitable.

The Constitution of India does not merely guarantee rights; it equally guarantees accountability for those who violate life, liberty, and public security. Kolkata Police has demonstrated institutional discipline and investigative rigour worthy of judicial appreciation. The victim’s widow, the bereaved family, and society at large deserve certainty — and today, the certainty is clear: The judicial machinery is functioning, active, and unyielding.

Let this stand recorded as precedent in spirit:

Those who believe they can extinguish a human life and escape consequences must understand that the law will find them, the State will prosecute them, and justice will compel them to answer.
