*BSF NABS 04 SMUGGLERS SMUGGLING PHENSEDYL ALONG INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER*

Thwarting the plans of smugglers, BSF jawans under South Bengal Frontier seized 569 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility in the Indo-Bangladesh International Border and also nabbed 04 smugglers red-handed. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,16,821/-.


The first incident took place on March 24, 2023 in the area of ​​BSF's Border Out Post Mahendra, 08 Battalion. Acting on an intelligence inputs, the jawans on duty sensed some suspicious activity and immediately laid an ambush in the area. At 0130 hrs in the night, the jawans observed that 02 smugglers are coming from the border road on Royal Enfield bike. When the jawans stopped them, they tried to run away from the spot but the alert jawans nabbed them on the spot. After this, the troops searched them thoroughly.  During the search, the jawans seized 120 bottles of Phensedyl and bike from their possession. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Manik Ghosh and Abhijit Ghosh, Distt. Nadia.


During interrogation, the smugglers told that they were going to hand over these Phensedyl to a Bangladeshi smuggler, Mantu Halder. They further revealed that during the day they had talked to Bangladeshi smuggler about this consignment. But as soon as they came out with this consignment at late night, the BSF jawans caught them near the border.


In another incident, on March 23, 2023, jawans of Border Out Post Mahindra, 08 Battalion, caught 02 smugglers with 60 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Mantu Halder, District Jhenaidah, Bangladesh and Sushanta Ghosh, District Nadia.


In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Rangiyapota, 82 Battalion and Border Out Post Charmurasi, 117 Battalion seized a total of 389 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility.


The apprehended smugglers and the seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.


Expressing satisfaction over the success of the jawans, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier appreciated them a lot. He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF jawans on duty. He urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances.  He also stated in strong words that his jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and will not spare the persons involved in it.
